At the Corpus Human Body Experience in Leiden, The Netherlands, the lighting became more than just illumination—it supported the storytelling, guiding visitors through an extraordinary, interactive exploration of the human body. Our goal was to elevate the experience where lighting seamlessly integrated into the scenery, helping visitors immerse themselves in the educational narrative while enhancing the visual impact of each themed scene.
The Challenge
Reimagining the lighting for Corpus came with its own set of challenges. We had to craft a fresh lighting plan within the highly detailed, immersive space. With over 300 fixtures and pixel-controlled LEDs, everything had to stay hidden in plain sight—working in harmony to amplify the narrative without stealing the show. We also ensured stakeholders had a clear preview of how the lighting would breathe new life into the exhibits, making it easy to see the value it would bring and paving the way for confident, early-stage decisions.
The Solution
By visualizing the lighting plan early on, we empowered the museum's leadership to make confident decisions, knowing exactly how storytelling lighting would transform the space. Kelight designed a sustainable, fully programmable LED lighting system that synced flawlessly with the museum’s show controls. The aim was more than just illumination; we wanted the lighting to be an essential part of the storytelling, blending seamlessly into the narrative to elevate the entire visitor experience.

The result was a visually captivating, fully immersive educational experience. Kelight’s lighting design infused every scene with life, subtly enhancing the narrative and drawing visitors deeper into the journey through the human body. Each fixture was meticulously positioned and programmed to align with the creative vision, ensuring the lighting seamlessly supported the educational story without overwhelming the space. Now, visitors embark on a fully immersive exploration, with lighting acting as an invisible yet powerful guide, elevating the experience every step of the way.
